When you use the cane, there are multiple kinds of tips you can have. Each of these tips can be used certain ways and have different advantages. Putting thought into how you prefer to get information is how you can decide on what kind you desire.
One type of tip is known as the pencil tip. This tip is not sharp but comes to a point like that of a dull pencil. The way this tip is used is by touching it down on one side, lifting it slightly, and then swinging it to the other before touching down again. In using a tip like this, you can move much faster but, miss certain types of information.
An alternative to the pencil tip is the rolling marshmellow tip. This is a small cylinder that spins on the ground as you drag it. By doing this, you will never miss information about the ground but, it can be harder to move with haste.
The final tip I would like to mention is the roller ball. tip. It works just like the roller tip when you drag it across the ground however, it is much larger. This tip is approximately the size of a large fist. Because it has a lot of size, you will get a little more information out of it. With the large tip though, it can be much heavier and make your wrist get tired sooner.
After considering and trying these different tips, you can find the right one for you. It all depends on the type and amount of information you would like. Once decided, you will be able to get the most out of useing your cane.
