Understanding Fast Speaking Rates

All technological devices for the blind are made to speak for usage. With so much information to review daily, this can take longer than being able to scan the screen with sight. If you speed up the voice and listen in the correct way, you will understand all that is said in under a second.

To speed up the voice on the iphone, open the settings app. You will then swipe right until you hear accessability and double tap. After the next screen, swipe right until it says Voiceover and double tap again. You will then swipe right until it reads off the current speaking rate and speed percent. From here, you can swipe up to increase the speed to 100%.

Now that the speaking rate is at it’s highest, it can seem hard to understand. The truth is that with the right method, you will understand every word spoken. With little practice and adjustment, you will understand things far faster via hearing.

The first thing to keep in mind is to not listen for individual words. Rather, you will listen to the whole thing it says as if it were one long word. For think, when someone says: “High how are you?” Do you hear it as: “Hi. How. are. you?” Or as: Just one stream of sound.

The greatest take aways from this is that you will not only be able to hear information faster but also work likewise. I notice that I can read and type faster with zero issues. This method makes it to where lots of listening can actualy be done in a second or two.
