While eating as a blind person, you may not know if food is on your face or not. It can be very easy to smear food upon your upper and lower lips as you put the fork or spoon in your mouth. Both having and using a napkin during meals is the best way to show etiquette.
After every bite you’ve taken, chew and think about your face. Does it feel greasy? Does it feel like it has dry food upon? If so then you should wipe it quickly.
First you’ll want to put your silverware down. Do not put it on the table because this could lead to smearing food from the tools to the table. Rather, place them on the plate.
Next pick up the napkin and wipe off your face. Do not do so via just wiping down. This could cause food to fall from your face on to your shirt. Instead, wipe your face almost iwth a large pinch and cupping motioin. This makes it so that all the food or sauce on your lips will be held and not dropped.
Doing this often at the table ensures a clean eating enviroment. Your clothes will never be covered in crumbs, peices of food, nor grease. Rather, you will leave the table having enjoyed your meal with zero mess involved.
